Dubai Studio City is where the region's screen production physically happens. The district holds purpose-built sound stages, including some of the largest in the Middle East, plus water tanks, workshops, backlots and pre-built production offices.

Tenants span the production food chain: production companies, equipment rental houses, casting agencies, post facilities and the crews that service commercials, series and features shooting in the UAE. Film permits for location work across Dubai route through the Dubai Film and TV Commission, and being licensed here keeps that relationship close.

For companies that mostly shoot abroad but edit and bill from Dubai, the zone still works, though a Media City licence can serve the same purpose closer to clients.
